Back to School

So I have now officially started my classes. It's odd being back in school...assignments, tests, labs. It all seems almost new to me. It's good though. I like having goals, and meeting them. I'm at a point where advancement is no longer much of a possibility due to my job filling up, and my getting out in less than a year now. Time to move on and all. It still feels weird not taking the servicewide exam, by choice...usually they are pretty important things. Not much point in my case though...even if I ended up high enough on the list, I wouldn't be taking the new rank. Just another sign of change. It is always odd leaving a job you have been doing for almost 8 years, I suppose...even if it is almost like 4 jobs with the same company.

Maureen and I saw Silent Hill last weekend. It was surprising...she actually wanted to go see a video game film. Without me asking. And you know what? It was good. Very good. I want more Silent Hill. Now. The effects, acting...I heard bad stuff about the dialogue, but even that was fine...almost seemed lifted from the games. Which were well done, I might add.

Anyways, back to my studies. Later.

AtomicFreak's PSA #...?

If you are drinking at a bar near the water, you notice it is a gorgeous night, you have a boat somewhere nearby and think about taking it out for a spin, maybe with friends...

DON'T.

I have to deal with the aftermath, and it will only get worse as summer creeps up like an impending doom...don't make it YOUR impending doom.

Ok, now that that is out of my system...on to other things.

I am now about to begin the odyssey of college. Kind of, at least...it's all distance-online-style education. My transfer credits cover roughly 1/3 of my Bachelors of Science in Software Engineering Technology. Now to begin the classes I need. I'm sort of nervous, sort of excited, and mostly thinking I should be more of one of those two options than I currently am.

Kingdom Hearts II is calling to me. It is a good game, and hard to put down. Pirates of the Carribean? check. Nightmare before Christmas? check. Final Fantasy characters? many checks. Must...Get...To...Tron...Level.

I'm sitting around reading comics with the TV on as background noise. I am up at those hours of the morning where every single channel (not many exceptions, at least) is trying to sell me something...mostly kitchen appliances, Girls Gone Wild dvd's, rip-offs of GGW dvd's, or exercise equipment. I've noticed that Willow Ufgood, aka Leprechaun, aka Wicket, seems to be a referee of some of the topless olympics. And some other dwarf. I have to cringe at the attempts to work a plot in to the GGW infomercials...we get it already - one guy is not good at getting the chicks, the other is. And you have a jet, and an island, and slaves in bikinis. I think all these ads may be interconnected...they take advantage of the sort of delerium you only have at these wee hours to give you the munchies enough to buy food preparation gear, then show you barely clothed women that you either want or want to look like (depending on your preference or gender), then show you the exercise gear you think you need to either get to that or at least get rid of the guilty feeling you have from buying too many things to prep food with. It's a prepared cycle, I'm telling you. A late-night infomercial conspiracy.

I'll leave you to ponder that for a while.
