Occupied Territory

Did you know Native Americans took over Alcatraz Island for nearly two years back in 1969-71? Awesome. I never knew that before. Just a random factoid I guess.

Anyways, I passed my board, although I thought I was much more prepared than I seem to have been. Passed is passed though, so thats out of the way, along with a couple other work related things I had to get done. Got a new dining room table and chairs, which is cool. In preparing for winter I got a swiss overcoat and scarf and one of those great old russian fuzzy hats, the kind with the ear flaps their military used. Even has a little red star with a hammer and sickle emblem. The main thing is, the thing is godamn WARM. And comfy.

R.I.P. Misty, 1991-2005. Mean cat, but cute. Took good care of my mom while I am not in Seattle. Sad day.

Not much else going on right now.

Mind and Body Workout

So, I've been studying quite a bit lately...they still havent given me my qual board at work, mostly due to key people being out and about, but thats ok...no arguement here about more study time. I need to brush up on some stuff anyways.

I've also been working out quite a bit. Just home stuff, looking into joining a gym. The one on base is a bit too far for regular workout, unless I want to stay after work...but after 12 hours somewhere you just want to go home. I have dumbells...10, 15, 20, and 25 pounders. The 10 and 15 are for toning, and the 20 and 25 are for building...or maybe it was the other way around, I get it mixed up sometimes. Situps, pushups, some running...but the best thing is punching. Seriously, go fork out about 21 bucks on Amazon for an Everlast Inflatable Power Tower punching bag. Nothing feels quite as good as beating the hell out of a punching bag for 10-20 minutes. I'm not one to get into many fights, but it is cathartic and a good workout, or warm up in increments of less time. Fun too.

Also, on a side note you should all read Daredevil: Redemption. Great comic, out in trade paperback collected format now. Especially interesting if you know anything about the West Memphis Three/Robin Hood Hills murders, as it is very heavily based on them. Basically a similar case happens and Matt Murdock decides to be their defense lawyer. Lots of details lifted almost exactly from the actual case. Great story even if you don't know much about the original case, which you can find out about at this site.
