Too. Damn. Hot and Humid.
So I'm back from Seattle to south Louisiana, and wow the change sucks. Admittedly the weather patterns in Seattle last week were oddball with hail and sun back to back, but I think going from the mild temperatures of the PacNorWest to the steambath of the south would have been annoying no matter what. I think I started to sweat the moment I stepped off the plain in New Orleans, where it has actually been unusually hot of late.
Only about three more weeks or so of this though, then off to Baltimore. I'm spending quite a bit of time going through my stuff to prep for the move, getting rid of things and keeping other things. I think I have a nice apartment lined up, provided no one beats me to filling out the forms and getting them in as I need to do it by mail or mail/fax mix...but they know I want it, so I think I'm good to go. Pit-beef sandwiches, here come da Freak!
At any rate, the trip to Seattle was much enjoyed by both myself and the M-Tron. I managed to get to eastern Washington to visit my grandmother who is ill, which was very good. I was hoping to make that trip, but wasn't sure if I would have the means...everything worked out though. The drive was nice as well, I love driving through the mountains in Washington, very beautiful scenery. Perhaps I'll pop up some pics later on as an edit, once I size them down a little. Hit the Archie McPhee ( clicky ) store, always good stuff. Met Chuck Palahniuk again, which you must do if you haven't already...great stuff. This time he threw severed limbs to the crowd, which I unfortunately did not catch, and steak shaped and scented air fresheners to help set the mood for his short story reading, which I unfortunately did get...those things stink. Our neighbor in the seats graciously took it off our hands, as she was taking a Greyhound back home that night and wanted to torture other passengers with the scent or just keep away people who wished to sit next to her, not really sure which. Either way, we were glad to help.
Finished the trip off with a few friends and thier pets, eating rotissourie food and watching the messed up classic Fritz the Cat. And now I am back, slowly boiling alive. Or being steamed alive. Doesn't matter, really. I will miss New Orleans though.
