Down time? Perhaps.

Well to update you all,my wounds are healed mostly, although I am still on antibiotics. A cut on the inside of a finger knuckle (stupid accident with scissors, while cutting tape to put bandages on another wound I might add) is still painful on occasion. Just in case anyone was wondering how I was. No, not bloody likely, but still.

Anyways, in the last 3 weeks since my various health issues have cropped up, I have beaten 5 video games. All great games, don't get me wrong, but 5 in 3 weeks? I think games are a bit short these days. My next couple (Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts: Covenant) are RPG's, so they should at least take me a bit longer to finish. I love a good story (Silent Hill 3 & 4 were great, Ghosthunter was well written, Onimusha 3 was cool) or just kicking the crap out of a ton of enemies in feudal Japan (Samurai Warriors), I also like to feel I accomplished something...which oft times is a feeling not gained when a game is beaten too fast. I should savor them more. Now if I could only get past that one ghost in the first Fatal Frame...

As for Star Wars Battlefront, most of what you may have heard is true. AI is stupid as hell in MANY cases, both enimies and allies. However, online kicks ass. I don't think I can get enough of crushing rebel scum, as I always pick the Empire...I would like to try the rebellion, but I just end up clicking the Stormtrooper (or Dark Trooper) instead. I also have loads of fun with the Empirial Scout and his Sniper Rifle. The online mode seems to make the game very worthwhile from my perspective.

However I do not really think my medical situation has caused much downtime for me. I actually think I have gotten more done than usual, including the hurricane watch I stood for 1.5 days straight, beating games, cleaning up my apartment(although there is still much to do), and some other crap I forgot. So I suppose it wasnt really down time. Oh well.

Thats all I got for now. Tune in next time, kiddies...same Freak time (maybe), same Freak channel (definately).

Strangeness, Sharp Things, & Too Much at Once

So after the pain stopped and the painkillers were no longer needed, I began to play some new games showing up at my door. First came Silent Hill 3, which I played only a small amount of but is very cool. Next came the addictive one: Katamari Damacy, the wacky and strange $20 PS2 thing from Japan. The graphics are nearly non-existant, but damn is it addicting. I must make more stars from common neighborhood items...I cannot stop.

Now however they begin to pile up. I was thinking of picking up Star Wars Battlefront, since I have 4 or 5 games I need to trade in, but I may have to hold off. I just got Silent Hill 3 and Katamari Damacy, and now Shadow Hearts: Covenant is shipping either today or this coming Tuesday, which comes with the original Shadow Hearts if you (like I did) preorder it. So to sum it all up, too many games at once for me. So do I try to keep the mood of Silent Hill going (recently finished SH4) by playing Silent Hill 3 so soon, or do I save it for a later date with that strange and wonderful little hamlet of horrors? Do I give in to my newfound Katamari habit or begin Shadow Hearts 1 & 2, which being RPG's will keep me enthralled for a while? Ah, decisions, decisions.

Also, the new Flogging Molly album is great.

Other than that, not much new in the life of this particular Human Pincusion, except that I seem to have a current and unfortunate string of luck involving having my flesh pierced by sharp objects...namely scalpels and scissors, neither by my choosing.

Oh well. I'm gonna go back to temporarily avoiding sharp objects as much as I can, which really sucks considering how much I love objects of the sharp variety, and how many of said objects I own.

Anyways, Later.

A Real Pain in the Arse

Friday night I ended up going to the hospital and having to have a burst abcess removed from my ass. It burned like crazy, and then it hurt even more as they sliced into it with a scalpel to drain and stuff it with gauze, but it feels a bit better now. Might be the painkillers they gave me, who knows.

At any rate, thats been my week...Hurricane Ivan, minor surgery, and painkillers. I beat Onimusha 3 tho, great game. Also got my leather mask for the Endless Night festival, and it looks good.

More some other time when I am not hopped up on goofballs.

Ivan, and some random thoughts

Hurricane Tip: stay away from the meatballs and rice in spicy tomato sauce MRE's. The freeze dried peaches arent bad though, and neither are the freeze dried fruit mixes.

So anyways, been at work for 30 hours straight now, mostly bored out of my mind. I'm one of the hurricane guys here, I go in and work so everyone else can evacuate if they want. McDonalds and Burger King were open for awhile, but I know McD's closed when they ran out of everything, BK probably did too...the lines were reportedly huge at both places. I have mostly been living off a few MRE's (Meal Ready to Eat)...some of which isnt half bad. Other bits of it are, as stated above, horrible.

It got a little bit more windy than normal, but not by much. Hurricane Ivan hit more over by Mobile, AL, even mostly missed New Orleans, which got some rain...more than I saw out here.

Altogether anticlimactic for me, which is better than having my stuff and possibly myself destroyed.

Oddly enough, during the whole 'ordeal', I only slept for about two and a half hours during the first day and a half of it, and yet felt fine. Once I get home I will probably pass the hell out in record time. For now, it's chillin with some Flogging Molly playing and reading The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi as I wait for people to come in and take over for me.

In an unrelated note, finished Silent Hill 4 the other day...I enjoyed that game quite a bit. Check it out if you are into that sort of thing.

In summary, the hurricane has missed me, and all is well with the state of things for the most part...unless you happen to be Irish, at which point the government has apparently decided that you are probably a terrorist.

Of course, if you ARE Irish, and I am (about half), you probably just don't really care what they think of you anyways...you are probably a bit amused and a bit irritated at the same time if anything, but the stupidity of those in power has never really surprised us at any point in history, has it? It's sad to say that it is more surprising when those in power AREN'T stupid, but those times are few and far between, aren't they? Just don't take any suspicious pictures of sunsets or anything like that, and you should be fine.

D-Day Revisited

Today turned out quite well, had the chance to go sit in on a lecture from a guy who was in the Coast Guard during WW2, driving the Higgins boats to Normandy and dropping troops on the beach, among other notable things. Got to hear alot of great sea stories from WW2, which was really cool, and Mr. Perrett was a very good speaker. If you ever get a chance to talk to someone from that war, you should...really interesting stuff, and most of them probably won't be around much longer. I once talked to a guy who was a pilot for the Japanese as well. It is always an interesting experience.

Portraits of Evil: XP Service Pack 2 & Silent Hill 4

Windows XP Service Pack 2 has apparently decided that it doesnt want me on the internet, as I keep getting suddenly booted. Why? Because my IP changes constantly, and apparently Microsoft doesnt like that and labels it as 'Limited or No Connectivity'. Well fuck you too, Bill.

Been hitting the PS2 for some Silent Hill 4: The Room, and I love it. My apartment is keeping me on my toes as well...SH4 has me slightly jumpy, but my apartment takes full advantage of this fact by having air in the water pipes, so sometimes (pretty much at random) a loud burst of air shoots out of the faucet. I dig it, adds atmosphere to the game when I think maybe something isn't right in the real world as well as in the magic glass box known to many as a 'television' that I use to weave PS2 spells on.

At any rate, I'm going to go back to beating strange long tongued dogs to death with a golf club and avoiding killer creatures with multiple baby heads.

New Blog Layout

Just updated this area, and I must say it looks pretty good in my opinion. Let me know what you think of it.

Not a whole hell of a lot else going on out of the ordinary. Beat Ghosthunter for PS2, which was a good game, slightly on the easy side with 2 exceptions, one being the final 'boss' fight - which is really more of an endurance battle against many enemies. The ending was cool, but disappointingly short. Ah well, hopefully it at least does well enough to merit a sequel that they seem to have left a ton of plot threads open for.

At any rate, hope you dig the new layout of this blog section of the main page here, and feedback is always welcome. And if you read the forums and don't post, start posting. I have had the beginnings of an urge to finally sit down and finish writing Bayou Rot, which has sat unfinished for nearly a year and a half now, so maybe soon something new will be there for you to read. In the meantime, I have painted a couple more masks recently, one of which is posted in the photos section.

Thats all I got for now...signing off.

So the question is this:

Shall I be Famous, Infamous, or do I just want to be invisible and live a nice peaceful existance?

I have no idea...it switches back and forth on a daily basis. I do want to do something big though, I just don't know what. Soon tho...soon. Nah, I got nothing. I guess I could always go back to my filmmaking days, but that could be pricey. Perhaps I could write a book of short horror stories, but publishing could be a nightmare. Maybe taking over the world would be easier...but do I really want to rule the world? Not too sure I do.

Oh well. Guess I'll just go with whatever comes to mind when an opportunity presents itself.

Ah, who am I kidding? I'm too lazy to even update my cam anymore. I'm going to go be lazy now.
